Prüffelder für Leistungstransformatoren – quo vadis?

Dipl.-Ing.

Test fields for power transformers – quo vadis?

The development of testing technology for power transformers is mainly linked to the market development of the power transformers themselves. The annual increase in global energy demand establishes positive long-term trends at higher levels due to the growth of the world's population and prosperity. Nevertheless, due to new political, economical, ecological and technical framework conditions, a change is currently taking place in the power transformer market and thus in the requirements for the associated test technology. People's growing awareness of the realities of climate change, combined with widespread use of renewable energy, requires an unprecedented structural change in our energy technology infrastructure. This paper discusses the main factors influencing this development. Starting from the geopolitical situation, the current transformation process of the energy infrastructure is considered. Using the examples of a test field for shunt reactors and a test field for small power transformers, the challenges for transformer testing technology are highlighted.
